Halloween Howl hauls in support for Alberta diabetes research

October 30th, 2011 - Metro Edmonton

They called on witches, goblins and ghosts – and wound up with a ghastly amount of support.

The Alberta Diabetes Foundation held their annual Halloween Howl on Sunday, with both a three and five kilometre run and walk, and a 10 kilometre run around the University of Alberta campus and beyond, starting at the Butterdome.

Many were out because they, their loved ones or even their children suffer from diabetes, but others came out for different reasons.

“A lot of people don’t realize the effect diabetes has on people’s vision,” said Paulina Bredin, one of 15 who formed a team from Southgate Vision Care. “And to help support diabetes, it’s such a big issue.”
