What on Earth are you going to do with your old cell phone?
Recycle it and you'll help Mother Nature and those in need of emergency communication.
All 39 Canadian Western Bank branches will be collecting used cell phones from August 30 through October 1, 2010 for the benefit of ADF Diabetes Research (ADF) who will receive a monetary donation for each phone received.
The phones can be recycled and sent to areas with economic necessity. Some phones are also refurbished and given to those who are in need of 911, emergency only, communications. "Cell phones contain many toxins and are very hazardous to our environment and they should not end up in landfills."
All cell phones, regardless of age or condition, will be accepted. Make certain to deactivate your phone as well.

William's Walk
On November 7th, 2009, an eleven year old boy named William walk 23km from Kitscoty to Lloydminster in an effort to raise awareness for diabetes. William’s Walk was particularly remarkable as he is a type one diabetic himself. For the last six years, William has been subject to a very strict diet and six injections a day – things a child his age should not have to worry about. In support of his cause, William collected pledges from friends and family to raise money for research in finding a cure. His life and the lives of many other children are affected every day from this debilitating disease. It is with great appreciation and admiration that the Alberta Diabetes Foundation presented William’s Walk on November 7th, 2009.
